How boat rental in Malta works with us

We are a local, family-run charter company that has been renting boats in Malta for over 12 years. Every boat in this list is ours, so you deal directly with the people who sail it, not a booking platform.

Pick your boat

Choose by group size, budget and style: a party catamaran, a quiet family boat, a real sailing yacht or a fast RIB.

Book with €200

Reserve your date online with a €200 deposit. The balance is paid on the day. Bad weather (Force 5 winds and above) means a full deposit refund.

Step aboard

Meet your skipper at Ta’ Xbiex or Sliema. Full-day charters usually run 10:00 to 18:00, and your group decides the route.

Standard capacity is included in the price. Most boats can take a few extra guests at €25 per person (€30 on Playtime).

Skippered or self-drive

Do you need a boat licence to rent a boat in Malta?

Not if you rent with a skipper, which is how almost all our guests go out. Here is the difference.

Skippered boat rental (recommended)

Available on all 9 boats. Your skipper drives, anchors, and picks the calmest bays for the day’s wind, so everyone on board can swim and relax.

No licence or boating experience needed

Local knowledge of Comino, Gozo and the harbours

Self-drive boat rental (licence required)

Only on our Lomac Turismo 710 RIB, for up to 8 guests, from €500 a day.

You must hold a valid boating licence: ICC, RYA Day Skipper, a Transport Malta nautical licence or equivalent
€200 refundable security deposit

Full boat and safety briefing before you leave

We do not offer licence-free boat rental. Without a licence, simply book the RIB or any other boat with a skipper.

Boat rental in Malta: frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Malta?

With us, a full day costs from €500 for the self-drive RIB, €700 for the RIB with a skipper or the Shirina Mia sailing yacht, €900 for our smaller catamarans and up to €1,900 for Playtime, our biggest boat. Evening and sunset charters start from €400. Every price is for the whole boat, not per person.

Can I rent a boat in Malta without a licence?

Yes, if you rent it with a skipper. All 9 of our boats are available with a professional skipper, and no licence or experience is needed. Self-drive rental is only available on our Turismo 710 RIB, and it requires a valid boating licence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper.

What is included in the boat rental price?

Skippered charters include the skipper, fuel, VAT, snorkelling gear, a cooler box, a Bluetooth sound system, a shower and life jackets. Stand-up paddleboards are included on selected boats. On the self-drive RIB, fuel is charged on what you use.

Is the boat private, or do we share with other people?

It is fully private. You rent the whole boat, and only your group is on board. We do not sell individual seats or tickets.

How many people can we bring?

Anywhere from 2 guests on the RIB up to 50 on Playtime. See the group size table above to find the right boat.

Where do boat rentals start?

From Roland Marina, Pontoon D, in Ta’ Xbiex, or from 101 Tigné Seafront in Sliema. Let us know which suits you when you book.

How do I book, and how much is the deposit?

Choose your boat and date online and pay a €200 deposit to secure it, with no credit card fees. The balance is paid on the day of your charter.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If we cancel because of wind of Force 5 or above, your deposit is refunded in full. Your skipper will also choose sheltered bays depending on the wind direction on the day.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes. Every boat has a cooler box, and you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. We can also arrange food and drink packages.

How far in advance should we book?

For July and August, book several weeks ahead, especially for weekends and larger boats. In spring and autumn, shorter notice is usually fine.
