How to Plan a Corporate Event on a Private Catamaran in Malta

Playtime catamaran 50 passengers

Planning a corporate event in Malta and thinking beyond the usual hotel conference room? A private boat charter is one of the most memorable ways to bring a team together — away from the office, on the water, with the Maltese coastline as your backdrop. Here’s how to plan one properly.

Why Take Your Corporate Event to the Water?

A private charter gives you something a venue can’t: a genuinely private, distraction-free setting where the whole boat belongs to your group. No shared spaces, no other guests, no fixed room-booking hours — just your team, your agenda, and the sea.

It works well for a range of occasions:

  • Team-building days — a change of environment that naturally encourages people to relax and connect
  • Client entertainment — a memorable, personal way to host clients or partners visiting Malta
  • Incentive trips — a genuine reward for top performers, not just another dinner
  • Product launches or small networking events — a distinctive setting that gets noticed

Choosing the Right Boat for Your Group

The right boat depends mostly on your group size:

  • Up to 10 people: Shirina Mia, our sailing yacht, suits smaller executive groups who want a quieter, more intimate setting.
  • 14–30 people: Our mid-size catamarans (Chiquita, Cicciolina Mia, Bowie Lagoon 42, Pupa Mia, Siesta Mia) give you space to mix informal conversation with structured downtime.
  • Up to 50 people: Playtime, our largest catamaran, works well for bigger team events or company-wide outings.

Planning Your Day

Every charter comes with a skipper included, so there’s nothing to manage on the water — your team can focus entirely on the event itself. A typical corporate charter runs:

  1. Departure from Roland Marina in Ta’ Xbiex (pickups from Sliema, Portomaso, or Bugibba available for an extra fee)
  2. A route built around your priorities — whether that’s a scenic cruise past Valletta’s Grand Harbour, a stop at the Blue Lagoon for downtime, or simply staying close to shore for easy connectivity
  3. Food and drinks — bring your own catering, or ask us to help arrange something for the occasion
  4. A flexible finish — extend the day if things are going well, just let your skipper know

A Few Practical Tips

  • Book ahead — especially for larger groups or during peak season (June–August), when availability moves quickly.
  • Consider the season — May, June, and September offer calmer seas and more comfortable temperatures for a full day outdoors.
  • Have a backup plan for weather — if conditions aren’t safe (wind Force 5 or above), we’ll cancel and refund your deposit in full, so it’s worth having a rough Plan B in mind.
  • Brief your skipper on the day’s goals — whether it’s a relaxed, informal day or a more structured agenda, a quick heads-up helps shape the route and pacing.
